Age & Gender Targeting

Control who sees your ads by setting age range and gender in Co-Pilot’s targeting step.

Setting Age Range

In Co-Pilot, go to Targeting. Under Demographics, set the minimum and maximum age. Age range: 18–65+. Default is 18–65+. Meta doesn’t allow targeting under 18.

Setting Gender

Choose: All (default), Men only, or Women only. Note: selecting gender may limit reach. For most campaigns, leave as All unless you have strong data for gender segmentation.

When to Restrict Age/Gender

  • Restrict age when your product has a specific demographic fit (e.g. retirement services)

  • - Restrict gender when your product is gender-specific (e.g. women’s health)

  • - Otherwise, let Meta’s algorithm find the best audience

FAQ

Does age/gender targeting override Advantage+ Audience?

If Advantage+ Audience is enabled, Meta may expand beyond your age/gender settings. To enforce hard limits, use manual targeting instead.
